An Hour later, I got the Devcareer-MasterClass work Account invite.

I have been a fan of Masterclass from the first day I saw their videos play on Instagram as ads.

The user journey

I got on the on-boarding quickly and noted the user journey( due to my background as a product manager).

Preselected instructors

I was taken to a window with Five (5) preselected instructors. I deselected and went ahead to make my pick.

Instructor 01 : Gary Kasparov

I had always loved chess but never had the “brain time” to see myself on a chess board, among my siblings I am the only one who cant play the game of chess. So I chose Instructor one as Gary Kasparov.

Instructor 02-03 : Marques Brownlee and Annie Leibovitz

I had recently gotten a scholarship for Content Creation and Social Media Management, so picking Marques Brownlee ( Make Compelling Videos that go Viral) and Annie Leibovitz ( Photography ) was no mistake.

Instructor 04: Danny Elfman

My next pick was Danny Elfman ( Music for film) , a lot of notable movies had their scores composed by Danny. Danny has established himself as one of the most versatile and accomplished film composers in the industry. He’s been nominated for four Oscars and has collaborated with several directors.

Instructor 05: FUTURA- Lenny McGurr

My Love for Art took me straight to FUTURA- Lenny McGurr (formerly known as FUTURA 2000) ( spray paintings and Abstract Art), he is a graffiti artist whom I would like to learn from and know more about art too.

Instructor 06: Jeff Goodby & Rich Silverstein

I had a stint with Advertising back in 2006 at an Advertising Agency, this and also partly because all products need creative Adverts I chose Jeff Goodby & Rich Silverstein for Advertising and Creativity Classes.

Instructor 07: Richard Branson

My next pick was Richard Branson ( Disruptive Entrepreneurship). As a young Nigerian I had seen him invest in Virgin Nigeria as one of the first international Airlines to sojourn in that sector and it was good while the business lasted. I have also come across a couple of books he Authored and would want to see him speak as I am also interested in Startups.

Instructor 08: Alexis Ohanian Snr.

My next pick is Alexis Ohanian (Building your Startup), a little bit of research on Alexis shows he confounded some successful unicorns and startups and he would be a good source of inspiration for my startup journey.

Instructor 09: Levar Burton

My next pic is Levar Burton on the Power of Story Telling, I grew up to be part of the generation that watched the premiere of Roots where Levar played the role of Kunta Kinte as an actor, he has gone on to direct many movies and TV productions. As a product manager, I need to have the knowledge of Story telling to be able to work closely with my sales team to put together strong stories to sell our products just as luxury brands that have existed for decades the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini etc.

Instructor 10: Elaine Welteroth

I took one last pic not because of the Tutor but because of the Theme : Designing your Career by Elaine Welteroth, Elaine is a journalist and Editor, she was the Second Person of African American Heritage to be named Editor in Chief at Vogue Teen in Condé Nast’s 107 year history.

I initiated the onboarding session in the company of my kids of were interested in the Visuals and Music emanating from Danny Elfman’s page, I put the sounds on speakers to get more sound feedback of his intro.

I paused the video and went back to get the class Guide , its a guide so I want to go through it before delving into my first Lesson.

As I got on the website , I noticed the “New and for you” at the top of the Left Sidebar, I also noticed the edit skills button that popped up in bright blue at the upper right side of the window, hitting the button it took me my profile page which I edited.

My curiosity led me to look at the Articles page and found out the articles page also had categories in a similar pattern to the main account window.
