What Do you know about Startups? I mean Nigerian Startups !!!

Introduction :

Having a Startup in Africa especially Nigeria is one of the Hardest things in the world 🌎 to do.

When is the Best Time to do a Strart-up Course:

I Started SDC Startup 🌟. 🏫 School last Year immediately after I my main product school courses.

Take Away so far from Startup Stories / Startup School .

I am still in awe with the startup stories on Cynthia Chisom’s podcast of Nigerian Startups, Ghanaian Startups, Mozambique, Benin Republic, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia over 5 seasons of Podcasts with virtually every startup in every sector.

All the startup stories were having a number of similar factors some we’re from problems faced by the founders or just solutions to problems faced by customers (pre-users).

One of the startup stories I listened to that stressed the need for quality was one by Morenikeji Oyinyemi. She spoke of her first Eureka moment of cooking and getting accolades for what she did without looking afar, to her first cooking contract with Guaranty Trust bank, I could feel the moment she mentioned she had to turn her single room abode into a kitchen with borrowed burners, and segment the cooking volumes to meet up with the contract. Her explanation of who a cofounder should be was explicit: choose your cofounder(s) wisely, There would be dysfunction( its a part of life).

Some of the points she made on the God factor also resonates with me because in life you have to have a guiding voice in the back of your head telling you which turn to make and step to take.

Without mincing words I love the fact that she took quality to the peak as a food vendor. I for one am someone who can perceive stale meals from a mile away and sure 1 spoon from any of such can take me to the loo in seconds. Her vendor outlet stood on the principle of no bad meal to any customer from day 1 and that’s a first from many food vendors I know, she knew the business ethics, the climatic conditions, local lifestyles and the psyche of customers( Nigerian customers).

You need to listen to Cynthia’s podcast to get the depth of Reni’s passion.

As I round up my modules in SDC Startup school I want to say to everyone out there who is thinking of building a startup, startup team, seeking funds(investors), BUILD RIGHT, but know you can’t do it without information.

Do the Nigerian Tech ecosystem good by Registering in a Nigerian Startup School and soak-up a lot of startup stories.
